Important characteristics of Venn Diagram Tests are:
- Venn Diagram tests are usually multiple-choice (only one option is correct in each case)
- Venn Diagram tests are administered under exam conditions and strictly timed. The given time per test differs per test publisher; some tests give relatively generous time limits, while others are shorter.
- Test takers are usually permitted to use a rough sheet of paper. Use this to your advantage and draw Venn diagrams to solve the questions and find the relationships between the given elements.
- No prior knowledge is required; this means that you do not have to memorize anything.
Here are some Venn Diagram examples:
Example 1:
Directress, Man, Woman
Letter D: represents Directress
Letter M: represents Man
Letter W: represents Woman
A directress is always a woman. So we can put the circle of Woman in the circle of Directress. A Man cannot be a directress or a woman so it stands apart from the other two. There for this circle does not fit in the two other circles and stand apart from them.
If we look to the created Venn Diagram you see W is inside D, and M is standing a long next to them.
Example 2:
Composer, Mozart, Beethoven
Letter C: represents Composer
Letter M: represents Mozart
Letter B: represents Beethoven
If we look to the question we see two famous composers, Mozart and Beethoven. Next to the two famous composers, we see the word Composer. So the main subject is Composer. We make this a big circle. Mozart and Beethoven are both composers but not the same person. So they are equal, and same size circle. Because they are both composers they both get placed inside the big circle.
If we look to the created Venn Diagram you see that both M and B are placed inside C.
